ORIGIN STORY
The artist name CIRCLES2LINES derives from the idea that our thoughts are habitual and cyclical in nature. When we begin to challenge our cyclical thought patterns through creative expression, our perceptions and reflections transform into evolutionary lines and bring us into new experiences and energies.
Starting out, I aimed to uncover the unseen energies of our world. While capturing these dimensions through abstract drawings and paintings, my attention was redirected to the concrete geometrics of New York and other cityscapes. I came to look up in awe at lines, angles, patterns, and emotions created by urban structures and spaces. In inspired response, I transformed my practice into surreal, mixed-media collages contrasting abstract design with cityscapes and street life.
In its second iteration, CIRCLES2LINES has evolved into abstract and surreal social commentary and traces how the energy of our social-sphere/social-verse engages and interacts with universal elements. Observing social issues from a multi-dimensional perspective, I illustrate and visually conceive the emotion and reality of systemically and systematically rooted social issues.
My ongoing series’ critically engage with current patterns in architecture and urbanism, illuminating how neoliberal systems destructively shift the energy and vibration of communities and space.
My current VACANT series was birthed from seeing and feeling the aesthetic of New York City’s hyper-gentrified, suburbanized, commodified reality and researching the systemic, political, economic, and policy-based origins of that reality.
